Los Angeles Times The Taste commands an epic food event for thousands of foodies during Labor Day weekend. This annual food festival featured acclaimed chefs, mixologists, restaurants and brands at Paramount Studios New York Street backlot. The Taste was hosted by renowned The Times Food staff: Amy Scattergood, Jonathan Gold, Jenn Harris and Noelle Carter.
Guests enjoyed unlimited culinary delights, cocktails, cooking demonstrations, wine seminars, and panel discussions from food experts. Amy Scattergood, Times Food Editor, and Chef Cimarusti hosted Field to Fork on Saturday morning, a tribute to the distinctive seasonal cooking and local produce that nurtures California’s culinary possibilities. Jonathan Gold, Times Restaurant Critic, hosted seminars Saturday night celebrating the best of L.A.’s dining and cocktail experiences. The Taste kicked off the final day with the Sunday Block Party, a backyard cookout-inspired gathering.
Notable restaurants throughout the festival include: Herringbone Santa Monica, Fluffy Ice, Hinoki and the Bird, JINYA Ramen Bar, The Hudson, The BLVD, BOA Steakhouse, Faith and Flower, Hyde Sunset Kitchen, Ivory on Sunset, Jared, Sweetfin Poke and Slapfish (creators of the lobster burger that launched a long line around the block at the event).
Citi sponsored a modern outdoor lounge serving catered snacks and exclusive wine slushies. Acura showcased its newest line of luxury vehicles and hosted The Taste’s Acura Culinary Stage. Pop-up bars from Knob Creek and Suntory Whisky crafted signature cocktails. Leftover prepared food from the weekend event was donated to Midnight Mission as an effort to reduce food waste.
